About Us
About Paper & Pillar
Paper. The story. The thing you can actually read, feel, and remember.
Pillar. The structure underneath it — strong enough to build something real on.That's the whole idea. Every book we write is a story first. But underneath the story, there's always something you can actually use.
The people behind itPaper & Pillar is written by Dr. Taniya Gupta — a dentist for four years before she stepped back to raise her family, and a novelist ever since. Four years of patient chairs taught her more about fear, trust, and what makes people finally say the honest thing than any writing course could have. She's spent the years since discovering that the same instinct works just as well at a kitchen table as it does in a clinic. She writes every word of every story. Her husband, Amit, brings the financial grounding underneath them — years spent inside the world of banking and financial decision-making, watching, up close, the specific gap between families who look like they're doing well and families who actually are. That gap is where The Earning Gate — and everything that follows it — began.Taniya writes the people. Amit checks the arithmetic. Between the two of them, a story earns the right to also be useful. What we're buildingWe started with money, because it's the thing most families avoid talking about honestly — even the ones who seem to have it figured out. The Five Gates follows one family, the Mehtas, through five separate thresholds most households never quite find: earning, protecting, growing, freeing their time, and eventually, figuring out what it was all actually for.It won't stay only about money. Paper & Pillar is built to grow into whatever families are quietly avoiding talking about next — work, identity, the decisions we make without ever examining them. The subject will change. The promise won't: a story you'd read for its own sake, that happens to leave you with something worth building on.Why "and your own?"Early in The Earning Gate, a stranger asks Arjun a question nobody has asked him in sixteen years — four plain words that unravel everything he thought he understood about what he'd actually built. It's the question this whole project is built around. Not how much do you earn. Not are you rich. And your own? What have you actually built — with the years, the skill, the capability you already have — and have you ever stopped long enough to ask?
